tuturigachicorp.com belongs to a music project. Everything on it is part of a story, except this page, the shop's legal page and the strip at the bottom of every page.

What is real

Tuturigachi Language Solutions Corp. is fictional. It was not founded in 1987. Its staff, offices, figures, phone numbers and postal addresses do not exist, and none of its language services can actually be ordered. What it stands for is real. The frogs, however, insist that the company itself is real.

Ohibikidesune is real: a music project about five yōkai in the shape of frogs, and an album, Only Yōkai Rhyme 『妖怪しか韻を踏まない』, in which language keeps leaving the category it was given.

Who made what

We, Ohibikidesune, wrote the concept, the mythology, the English lyrics, and the spirit tongue: the made-up words that sound like Japanese.
The person behind Ohibikidesune has written linked verse with friends for twenty-five years. The company's love of renga comes from there.
The Japanese lyrics were written with AI, adapted from a weather forecast, or built on haiku by Matsuo Bashō and Kobayashi Issa.
The translations of the lyrics were made with machine translation.
The music, vocals included, is AI-produced.
The album cover was generated with AI.
The fax machine's tones on this site were synthesised in code. None of them is a recording.

Why the music is AI-produced

Like the Tuturigachi Corporation, we have very little to work with: we can't afford a studio, musicians or singers yet. So think of these songs the way the Corporation would describe them, as prototype recordings: sketches of what they could become.

What we want

To make them for real, with people who play, sing and dance. If you are a musician, a singer, a dancer or a producer, or you know one, or you'd like to help in another way, write to us: ohibikidesune@tuturigachicorp.com. We read every message and answer it ourselves.

If we make a song together, it is published as that song's revised edition, with your name on it. The prototype recording stays online beside it. What we can offer today is the credit, and the song itself to play with.

Credits

Some weather-related phrasing in the lyrics draws on public information from the Japan Meteorological Agency. Some haiku lines are based on works by Matsuo Bashō and Kobayashi Issa, whose poems we deeply admire.

Type: Hanken Grotesk by Alfredo Marco Pradil, and Shippori Mincho B1 by FONTDASU, both under the SIL Open Font License 1.1. The licence files sit beside the fonts: Hanken Grotesk, Shippori Mincho B1.

The LED board at the foot of the window: its letters are DotGothic16 by Fontworks, under the SIL Open Font License 1.1, cut down to the characters the board can show, with their letters unaltered (licence). The board is drawn dot by dot by your browser; it stores and sends nothing.

The free tools and the LED board were made with AI, from our plans: their code, their designs (the sign templates, the fax cover sheet and the fax look, the intros' animation and music, the aptitude test's sheet, the paint window and its icons) and their sample texts (the seasonal greetings' openings, closings and English lines), which were checked against standard usage. What each of them rests on, and under which licence, follows.

The rhyme finder's word lists: the Japanese words and readings come from JMdict, by the Electronic Dictionary Research and Development Group (EDRDG), used under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 licence; our Japanese rhyme data is shared under the same licence. The English pronunciations come from the CMU Pronouncing Dictionary of Carnegie Mellon University (BSD licence), and the word frequencies from SCOWL by Kevin Atkinson. The sources, what we changed, and the full notices are in the data's licence file.

The seal tools: the seals are set in Yuji Syuku by Kinuta Font Factory and Kaisei Tokumin by FONTDASU, both under the SIL Open Font License 1.1 (Yuji Syuku, Kaisei Tokumin). The old-seal style (koin) is Shippori Antique by The Shippori Antique Project Authors (SIL Open Font License 1.1, licence), served in pieces with its letters unaltered, and worn by our own code at every press. The clerical style (reisho) is Aoyagi Reisho Shimo by SIMO, after the brush of Aoyagi Kōzan, a free font passed on with its own two notes (terms of use, notes). The seal script (tensho) is the Shuowen Jiezi font of the CNS11643 Full Repertoire by the Ministry of Digital Affairs, Taiwan, under the SIL Open Font License 1.1 (licence, source); where it lacks a modern character form, the old form is used, from OpenCC's table of Japanese shinjitai (Apache License 2.0). The stretched, frame-filling style for round kanji seals is our own drawing. All of it is inked by our own code. PDFs are shown with pdf.js by Mozilla (Apache License 2.0) and written with pdf-lib by Andrew Dillon (MIT licence), both running in your browser (pdf.js licence, pdf-lib licence). The list of usual katakana spellings of foreign names is our own.

Your Name in Japanese and its name pages, on the English site since the fifth release: the cards are set in Shippori Mincho B1 (named above) and EB Garamond by The EB Garamond Project Authors, both under the SIL Open Font License 1.1, cut down to the characters a card needs and served under names of their own (licence, licence); the seal is the seal tools'. The katakana come from the katakana name seal's own list, to which we added names of the Nordic languages. The notes on each name's sounds are written by our code from the name and its katakana, and the lines on history were checked. Your name is read in your browser and sent nowhere.

The garbled-text repair and the furigana tool: when a browser has shown a byte it could not read as "�", our repair picks the likeliest character for the gap, using how often kanji occur and which characters follow each other inside words, taken from JMdict and KANJIDIC2 of the Electronic Dictionary Research and Development Group (EDRDG), under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 licence (licence file). The furigana tool splits and reads Japanese with kuromoji.js by Takuya Asano (Apache License 2.0, licence) and its dictionary mecab-ipadic, copyright the Nara Institute of Science and Technology and ICOT, which may be used and passed on with its notice (notice). The school grade of each kanji comes from KANJIDIC2 (licence file). Both tools run in your browser.

The seasonal greetings and the number puns: the letter openings and closings follow standard Japanese letter-writing usage, and the dates of the solar terms are computed in your browser. The number-pun tool reads digits against a word list chosen from the rhyme finder's sound database, so it rests on JMdict as well, under the same licence (licence file).

The shop signs and the letter tool: the signs are set in BIZ UDPGothic and BIZ UDPMincho, the letters in BIZ UDMincho, all by Morisawa under the SIL Open Font License 1.1 (BIZ UDPGothic, BIZ UDPMincho, BIZ UDMincho). Your browser reads the fonts with fontkit by Devon Govett, in the fork by Andrew Dillon (MIT licence, licence), draws every character as its outline, and writes the PDF with pdf-lib. The letter papers are the company's stationery, drawn for this project. Both tools run in your browser.

The fax cover sheet and the fax look: the cover sheet is set in the BIZ UD faces named above, and the fax machine's header line in DotGothic16 by Fontworks (SIL Open Font License 1.1, licence). The fax look uses the same process we used to draw the faxed letter of 2008. Both tools run in your browser, and the cover sheet's send button sends nothing.

The corporate intro maker: the intros are set in BIZ UDPGothic (named above), and the animation and its music, in the manner of the 2008 intro, are drawn and played by your browser. The message you write is kept only in the link you share, after the "#", which browsers never send to a server, so we never see it. If someone reports an intro through the link on its page, their mail carries the link to us, and we can stop that intro from playing. The list of words the maker refuses is ours, and we keep it up to date by hand.

The aptitude test on the careers pages: the evaluation sheet is set in the BIZ UD faces named above, its seal in Shippori Antique by FONTDASU (SIL Open Font License 1.1, licence); the sheet is drawn by your browser. It can also be saved as a PDF with real text, to select, copy and put through a translator. Your answers stay in your browser and are forgotten when you leave the page. A shared result link carries only the result, after the "#".

The drawing corner on the 2000 site: the paint window, its sixteen colours, its tools and the 16-colour PNG it saves follow the paint programs of the mid-1990s. The name each drawing gets is built from how often each sound occurs in the spirit tongue's ledger, never from its words, and the name and the registration number are computed from the drawing itself, in your browser. Nothing you draw is sent anywhere.

This site

It is old and partly broken on purpose, because that is the state the Tuturigachi Corporation is in. It never recovered from a deep setback in 2008, and since 2019 it has not had the means to look after its website. Dead links, errors and garbled pages are part of the story. The links to the music, this page and our address always work.

We've got your back. We won't follow you home. No analytics, no tracking, no advertising. Your browser keeps a few small notes on your own device, and only once you use the feature: the text size, whether you prefer the PC or the smartphone version, whether you closed the smartphone site's tip, and, until you close the tab, whether you have already updated the Flash Player; and, in a few tools, what you ask them to keep, such as a draft or the shop's cart. None of it is ever sent to us. The free tools run entirely in your browser: nothing you type into them reaches us. Three of them also have English pages: the rhyme finder, the katakana name seal and the fax look. Their slightly translated English is on purpose: it is the English of the company's own old English site. To make an image fail now and then, the server derives a throwaway number from your connection for that one request. It is never stored.

What you make with the tools is yours: the seals, letters, signs, sheets, pictures and sounds, to keep, use and share as you wish, with no credit owed. We keep none of it. There are no accounts and no cookies, and we keep no record of your visit: our host, Cloudflare, receives each request in order to deliver the page, as every host does, and we keep no logs of it.

本当のこと

トゥトゥリガチ言語解決社は架空の会社です。1987年に設立されたという事実もありません。社員、事業所、数字、電話番号、住所はいずれも実在せず、この会社の翻訳などのサービスを実際にご依頼いただくことはできません。この会社が大切にしているものは、実在します。ただ、蛙たちは、会社も実在すると言って譲りません。

「お響きですね」は実在の音楽プロジェクトです。蛙の姿をした五匹の妖怪と、言葉が持ち場を離れていくアルバム『妖怪しか韻を踏まない』（Only Yōkai Rhyme）をめぐる物語です。

誰が何を作ったか

コンセプト、神話、英語の歌詞、そして妖怪語（日本語のように響く造語）は、私たち「お響きですね」が書きました。
「お響きですね」の背後にいる人は、二十五年にわたって、友人たちと連句を巻いてきました。この会社の連句好きは、そこから来ています。
日本語の歌詞は、AIを使って書いたもの、天気予報をもとにしたもの、松尾芭蕉と小林一茶の俳句をもとにしたもののいずれかです。
歌詞の翻訳には、機械翻訳を使いました。
音楽は、歌も含めてAIで制作しています。
アルバムのジャケットの絵は、AIで生成しました。
このサイトのそのほかの音（FAXの音）は、録音ではなく、プログラムで合成したものです。

音楽がAIで作られている理由

トゥトゥリガチ言語解決社と同じく、私たちにも使えるものがほとんどありません。スタジオやミュージシャン、歌い手にお願いする予算が、まだないのです。ですから、これらの曲は、あの会社ふうに言えば試作音源、これからなりうるものの下書きだと思ってください。

クレジット

歌詞のうち天気に関する表現の一部は、気象庁ホームページ等の公開情報を参考にしています。俳句の一部は、私たちが深く敬愛する松尾芭蕉と小林一茶の作品に基づいています。

書体：Hanken Grotesk（Alfredo Marco Pradil）、しっぽり明朝 B1（FONTDASU）。どちらも SIL Open Font License 1.1 のもとで公開されている書体で、ライセンスは書体とともに置いています（Hanken Grotesk、しっぽり明朝 B1）。

画面の下の電光掲示板：文字はフォントワークスの DotGothic16 です。SIL Open Font License 1.1 のもとで公開されている書体で、字形はそのままに、掲示板が表示する文字だけに絞って配信しています（ライセンス）。掲示板は、お使いのブラウザが一点ずつ描いています。何も保存せず、何も送信しません。

無料ツールと電光掲示板は、私たちの構想をもとに、AIを使って作りました。プログラムも、デザイン（貼り紙のテンプレート、FAX送付状の書式とFAX化の画像処理、イントロの動きと音楽、適性評価票、お絵かきボードの画面と道具のアイコン）も、文例（時候の挨拶の書き出しと結び、その英語の言い換え）も同じで、文例は一般的な用法と照らし合わせて確かめています。それぞれのもとになったものとライセンスは、以下のとおりです。

韻検索の辞書データ：日本語の語と読みは、電子辞書研究開発グループ（EDRDG）の JMdict を、クリエイティブ・コモンズ表示-継承 4.0 国際ライセンス（CC BY-SA 4.0）のもとで利用しています。韻検索の日本語データも、同じライセンスで公開しています。英語の発音はカーネギーメロン大学の CMU Pronouncing Dictionary（BSDライセンス）、単語の頻度は Kevin Atkinson による SCOWL に基づいています。出典、加えた変更、各ライセンスの全文はデータのライセンスファイルにあります。

英語版の「Your Name in Japanese」とお名前のページ（5曲目の公開から）：カードは、しっぽり明朝 B1（上記）と、The EB Garamond Project Authors による EB Garamond で組んでいます。どちらも SIL Open Font License 1.1 のもとで公開されている書体で、カードに要る文字だけに絞り、別の名前で配信しています（ライセンス、ライセンス）。印影は、印鑑のツールのものです。カタカナは、カタカナ名前印の表記一覧に北欧の名前を加えたものによります。お名前ごとの音の説明は、名前とそのカタカナから私たちのプログラムが書き、歴史についての一文は、確かめたうえで載せています。お名前はお使いのブラウザの中で読まれ、どこにも送られません。

文字化け修復とふりがなのツール：ブラウザが読めずに「�」と表示したバイトについて、修復ツールは、漢字の使われる頻度と、語の中での文字のつながりをもとに、いちばん自然な文字を推定して補います。この情報は、電子辞書研究開発グループ（EDRDG）の JMdict と KANJIDIC2 を、クリエイティブ・コモンズ表示-継承 4.0 国際ライセンスのもとで利用したものです（ライセンスファイル）。ふりがなのツールは、Takuya Asano 氏の kuromoji.js（Apache License 2.0、ライセンス）と、その辞書 mecab-ipadic（奈良先端科学技術大学院大学・ICOT の著作物で、表示を付ければ利用・再配布できます。表示）を使って、言葉の区切りと読みを判定しています。漢字の学年は KANJIDIC2 によります（ライセンスファイル）。どちらのツールも、お使いのブラウザの中で動いています。

時候の挨拶と語呂合わせのツール：手紙の書き出しと結びの文例は、一般的な手紙の作法に沿っています。二十四節気の日付は、お使いのブラウザの中で計算しています。語呂合わせのツールは、韻検索の響きデータベースから選んだ言葉と数字の読みを照合しているため、同じく JMdict に基づき、同じライセンスのもとにあります（ライセンスファイル）。

貼り紙メーカーと便箋で手紙：貼り紙は BIZ UDPゴシックと BIZ UDP明朝、手紙は BIZ UD明朝で組んでいます。いずれもモリサワの書体で、SIL Open Font License 1.1 のもとで公開されています（BIZ UDPゴシック、BIZ UDP明朝、BIZ UD明朝）。書体の読み込みには Devon Govett 氏の fontkit（Andrew Dillon 氏による派生版、MIT ライセンス、ライセンス）を使い、一文字ずつ輪郭として描いて、pdf-lib でPDFにしています。便箋は、この物語のために描いた会社の便箋です。どちらのツールも、お使いのブラウザの中で動いています。

FAX送付状とFAX化：送付状は上記のBIZ UDの書体で、FAXのヘッダーはフォントワークスの DotGothic16（SIL Open Font License 1.1、ライセンス）で組んでいます。FAX化は、2008年のFAXの手紙を描いたときと同じ処理です。どちらのツールも、お使いのブラウザの中で動いています。送付状の「送信」ボタンは、何も送信しません。

企業イントロメーカー：イントロは上記のBIZ UDPゴシックで組んでいます。動きと音楽は、2008年のイントロにならったもので、お使いのブラウザが描き、鳴らしています。入力したメッセージは、共有するリンクの「#」から後ろにだけ書き込まれます。この部分はブラウザからサーバーに送られないため、私たちが目にすることはありません。再生ページの報告リンクから知らせていただいた場合に限り、そのメールでリンクが私たちに届き、そのイントロの再生を止めることができます。入力できない言葉の一覧は私たちが作ったもので、手作業で更新しています。

採用情報の言語適性診断：適性評価票は上記のBIZ UDの書体で、印影はフォントダスのしっぽりアンチック（SIL Open Font License 1.1、ライセンス）で組んでいます。評価票は、お使いのブラウザが描いています。文字を選んでコピーできるPDFとしても保存でき、翻訳ツールにかけることもできます。回答はブラウザの中にだけあり、ページを離れると消えます。共有する結果のリンクには、「#」から後ろに診断結果だけが入ります。

2000年のサイトのお絵かきコーナー：お絵かきボードの画面、16色、道具、保存される16色のPNGは、1990年代なかばのお絵かきソフトにならったものです。絵につく名前は、妖怪語の台帳に出てくる音の頻度だけをもとに組み立てており、台帳の言葉そのものは使っていません。名前と登録番号は、描かれた絵そのものから、お使いのブラウザの中で計算しています。描いた絵が、どこかへ送られることはありません。

このサイトのつくり

古く、ところどころ壊れているのは意図的なもので、トゥトゥリガチ言語解決社のいまの姿を表しています。この会社は2008年に大きくつまずいたまま立ち直れず、2019年からはウェブサイトの手入れをする余力もなくなりました。リンク切れやエラー、文字化けも物語の一部です。音楽へのリンク、このページ、連絡先は常に機能します。

アクセス解析や追跡、広告はありません。機能を使ったときに限り、ブラウザがお使いの端末に小さな記録を残します。文字の大きさ、PC版とスマートフォン版のどちらで表示するか、スマートフォン版の案内を閉じたかどうか、そしてタブを閉じるまでのあいだ、Flash Playerを更新したかどうか、さらに一部のツールでは、下書きやショップのカートなど、残すようお選びいただいたものです。これらが私たちに送られることはありません。無料ツールはすべてブラウザの中で動き、入力した内容が私たちに届くことはありません。そのうち三つ（韻検索、カタカナ名前印、FAX化）には英語のページもあります。英語が少し翻訳調なのは意図的なもので、会社の古い英語サイトの英語に合わせています。画像がときどき表示されなくなるよう、サーバーはそのつど接続情報から使い捨ての数値を計算します。この数値は保存されません。

ツールで作ったものは、すべて作った方のものです。印影も、手紙も、貼り紙も、表も、絵も、音も、ご自由にお使いください。出典の表示も要りません。作ったものを私たちがお預かりすることはありません。アカウントもクッキーもなく、訪問の記録も残しません。ページをお届けするため、サーバー（Cloudflare）は毎回の通信を受け取りますが、私たちはその記録を保管していません。
